The sound of a voice singing in comfort, in love, in joy and maybe just a little depressions was moving last night in our house. Our daughter and her husband were playing mom and dad for the day and night with our granddaughter. They had brought her to our place and taking care of her at Papa’s House.
The toys and the games had been played with, the videos had been watched, and books had been read and the prayers had been said. Now to sleep without the comfort of Mom and Dad, so the songs began.
I remember singing to that girl that was now singing to my granddaughter. Songs of joy like…
“The Ants go marching one by one"
“I found a peanut”
“Amazing Grace”

My favorite was and still is “Hush little baby”.
"A song I would make up the words"
My favorite was and still is “Hush little baby”.
Hush, little baby, don't say a word.
Papa's gonna buy you a mockingbird
And if that mockingbird won't sing,
Papa's gonna buy you a diamond ring
And if that diamond ring turns brass,
Papa's gonna buy you a looking glass
And if that looking glass gets broke,
Papa's gonna buy you a Billy goat
And if that Billy goat won't pull,
Papa's gonna buy you a cart and bull
And if that cart and bull fall down,
you’ll still be the sweetest little baby in town
This Valentine day of 2008 I now can sing a song to three of the special girls in my life, My Valentine’s. I know that they will not like a mocking bird and I will not be able to buy them a diamond ring. My budget is more in the line of a Billy goat.
But one thing I will always sing and promise to each of them is...
“You’ll still be the sweetest little baby in town”
Happy Valentine Days!
Ken, Dad and Papa

Hello Ken ~
It's your daughter's mother-in-law!
I talked to Owen on Saturday when he and Amber were trying to entertain Leta. He called me to chat just now on his tedious commute home and told me about your blog and this story behind this story. Of course, I started to cry.
Don't we have a fabulous family? I am very proud of Eric, Missa, Amber and Owen. They are excellent role models for their generation.
